‘I’d choose Manchester City’: £70m defender says he'd happily sign for Pep Guardiola's side

Manchester City are no strangers when it comes to signing players from fellow Premier League clubs.

Over recent years, City have landed deals for the likes of Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes from fellow top-flight sides.

This has proved to be a useful tactic for the Manchester club, as they have become the first side to win four consecutive Premier League trophies.

In the midst of another summer transfer window, one current Premier League player has opened up about which other clubs in the division he’d like to play for, with City getting a mention.

Murillo admits he’d love to play for Man City

Appearing as a special guest in a video shared on the Benja Me Mucho YouTube channel, Murillo had this to say on the subject of which clubs he’d like to play for in his career.

He said: “I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad.

“There’s City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either, it would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club.”

Murillo proved himself to be a capable top-flight defender

The defender, who has been touted by The Guardian to have a £70m price tag, joined Forest back in the 2023 summer transfer window.

Across his debut season at the Midlands club, the Brazilian, who recently claimed that he doesn’t think Erling Haaland is a star player, started all 32 Premier League games he appeared in.

The centre-back also racked up more clearances (188) and interceptions (37) than any other player at Forest, as well as having the third-highest number of blocks (41) and joint-fourth-highest total of successful tackles (31).

In our view, while Murillo has proved himself to be a capable defender in the Premier League, we agree with him about the current crop of defenders in Pep Guardiola’s ranks potentially making it difficult for him to be a regular player for the Citizens if he were to ever find himself at the Etihad Stadium.
