How to remove gum from hair without cutting it

This isn’t any random hack found on TikTok or Facebook. The easy method is approved by the American Academy of Dermatology. So it’s safe for you hair.

The first thing not to do upon finding chewing gum in the hair is wash or cut it. Instead, take a small amount of peanut butter or vegetable oil and use it cover the gum completely.

You can use your fingers or a toothbrush to apply either ingredient and let it rest for a few minutes. The video shared by AAD claims that the oil and peanut butter make the gum base “stiffer and less sticky.”

After a few minutes the gum can be easily removed from the hair without cutting it. While peanut butter is recommended for gum on long hair, vegetable oil is more suitable for eyebrows and eyelashes.

Wash your hair as usual using the step-by-step guide we have shared above so you don’t smell like peanut butter or vegetable oil.

Another easy hack approved by lifestyle blogger

Popular Lifestyle blogger Quynh Pham approves of another easy method to get rid of chewing gum on hair after trying it in one of her viral videos.

Don’t worry if you can’t find peanut butter or vegetable oil in the dire situation as suggested above, as ice cube can solve the problem just as effectively.

All you have to do is cover the gum on your hair with an ice cube or two and wait for a while. The chewing gum hardens as the ice melts and separates from hair.

Refrain from trying other hacks or ingredients for an easy fix if isn’t approved by an expert. Especially lemon juice, which shouldn’t be used to bleach your hair in the sun as well.
