Mac Miller’s tragic passing due to an accidental drug overdose

American rapper and singer-songwriter Mac Miller was a hip-hop legend from humble beginnings. With his debut album Blue Side Park making it to number one on the Billboard 200 in 2011, the artist managed to fit another six hit-albums into his eight-year career. His hometown, Pittsburgh, celebrated the music star’s quick rise to fame by declaring September 20 as ‘Mac Miller Day’ in the city.

Though on the outside Miller had a lot going for him, the artist struggled with depression and substance abuse. Tragically, on September 8, 2018, the 26-year-old rapper was found dead in his San Fernando Valley home, reportedly from an accidental drug overdose.

“What an incredible, honestly, what a genuine human being,” Post Malone tells Lowe about Miller when discussing their close relationship. Miller had reached out to Malone whilst White Iverson was blowing up, and the pair had plans to collaborate on an album together.

“Mac was the first one that tweeted me. It’s so weird because I listened to him since the beginning,” Malone said. “Then to be able to meet him and become friends with him was just like, ‘I look up to you, and now we’re sitting here playing beer pong.’ Yeah, we were going to make an album. We were sitting there playing beer pong and we were like, ‘Let’s make a f***ing album.’”

Unfortunately, the collaborative album never got beyond the planning stages.

It seems the death of his friend may have impacted Malone in a more profound way, as he recently opened up about his own struggles with alcohol and his greatest fear. The artist has vowed to, “slow down on drinking, to take better care of my body.” Ensuring he will always be there for his daughter.

A freaky incident days after Mac’s death – ‘it gave me the chills’

Malone continues to discuss with Lowe an event that happened just a couple of days after the tragic passing of his friend Mac Miller.

“And it’s so weird too, and because it was like a day, two days, after he died. [I was] at an Airbnb in LA and all of a sudden the TV turns on and it wouldn’t stop.” Malone says describing the incident.

“We tried disconnecting and all this s*** and then we turned it off and it came back on.” He continues.

Post summaries the incident by saying, “And I was just like this is f***ing weird and it gave me chills!”

What an unnerving event, it’s easy to see why Malone might have taken this as one final message from his close friend.
