Election count under way in South and North West Norfolk constituencies

The election count is well under way in West Norfolk - with two MPs to be confirmed within a matter of hours.

A number of candidates have already arrived at Lynnsport, with Earl Elvis Of East Anglia - the Official Monster Raving Loony Party candidate - catching the eye with a bright orange suit.

They are awaiting results being announced for the South West Norfolk and North West Norfolk constituencies.

Liz Truss, who has served as South West Norfolk MP since 2010, has yet to arrive.

Candidates hoping to oust her such as Pallavi Devulapalli of the Green Party, Josie Ratcliffe of the Liberal Democrats and Lorraine Douglas of the Communist Party of Britain have been spotted.

Ms Truss’ main opponents are expected to be Independent James Bagge and Labour’s Terry Jermy. Mr Bagge is expected to arrive at 3am, while Mr Jermy is currently in attendance.

North West Norfolk candidate Rob Colwell, of the Liberal Democrats, is also here.

Other candidates are expected to arrive throughout the night - although some may be here already but not visible from the press area.

Rounding off the South West Norfolk contestants are Toby McKenzie of Reform UK and Gary Conway of the Heritage Party.

In North West Norfolk, Conservative James Wild is hoping to retain the seat he won in 2019.

As well as Mr Colwell, he faces off against Michael de Whalley of the Green Party, Tim Leaver of Labour and Reform’s Phil Walton.

The South West Norfolk count is yet to begin, but North West Norfolk votes are being counted as we speak.
