‘I’m told’: Sky journalist has now heard something different about Riccardo Calafiori and Arsenal

Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal appears to be the big transfer story of the week.

Indeed, reports in Italy have suggested that there has been plenty of movement on this front over the past few days, with some claiming that Arsenal have actually made a bid for the Bologna defender.

However, as always with any transfer story, different sources have different views, and speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth says he’s heard something different about Calafiori and Arsenal.

Indeed, Sheth says that while reports in Italy suggest a formal approach has been made, Sheth believes that is not the case based on what he’s been told.

Arsenal yet to approach Riccardo Calafiori

Sheth shared what he’s heard about the Italy international.

“The information we have at the moment is that there’s a growing feeling of a stronger and stronger interest from you know who (Arsenal),” Sheth said.

“I’m told as it stands there has been no formal approach. There are some reports in Italy now suggesting Arsenal have approached Bologna over a potential deal, but it is definitely a player they are looking at.”

Calafiori deal is still possible

Sheth says that there has been no approach over Calafiori, but, more importantly, he says that the Italian is definitely a player the Gunners are looking at.

Arsenal’s interest is still there, and that means that Calafiori is still a player who could end up at the Emirates this summer.

The reality is that it’s early days in the transfer window, and there’s still plenty of time for these sorts of deals to get done.

That said, Chelsea are still said to be keen on Calafiori, and Arsenal may need to act a bit more promptly if they are to get this deal done, because, as we all know, Chelsea aren’t a team that waste any time in the transfer window.
