'Appeasement will not stop Putin': EU Commission President criticizes Orban's visit to Russia

Appeasement will not stop Russian President Vladimir Putin. Only unity and determination will achieve a just peace in Ukraine, according to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

"Appeasement will not stop Putin. Only unity and determination will pave the way for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine," the European Commission President says, commenting on the visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to Moscow.

Orbán's visit to Moscow

Today, July 5, the head of the Hungarian government arrived in Moscow for a visit. According to the prime minister's spokesman, Bertalan Hawashi, Orbán will also meet with Putin during the trip.

It is worth adding that Orbán's recently paid a visit to Kyiv. At the same time, he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The parties discussed a global cooperation agreement between the two countries and some other issues. In particular, the Prime Minister suggested that Zelenskyy ceasefire before starting peace talks with Russia.
