John Terry and Trevoh Chalobah both react to the news just confirmed by Chelsea

Chelsea confirmed a piece of significant news in the last 24 hours that will have a big impact at the club.

It’s been two years since the current Blues ownership completed their takeover at Stamford Bridge.

There’s certainly been wholesale changes at Chelsea since then, including both on the playing squad and coaching staff.

Chelsea confirmed via their official website on Thursday that Neil Bath is stepping down after more than 30 years at the club.

The Director of Football Development and Operations, who’s had a major impact on Chelsea’s youth set-up for the past three decades, is now leaving.

John Terry and Trevoh Chalobah react to Neil Bath exit

There’s been plenty of reactions online to the announcement about Bath’s departure.

First of all, Chelsea legend John Terry has posted a blue heart emoji Instagram to this week’s news.

Blues defender Trevoh Chalobah also posted a message on his Instagram story about Bath’s Chelsea exit.

Chalobah wrote: “Thank you for everything, Neil.”

Chelsea’s owners must not neglect the academy

The Chelsea Chronicle just hopes that Bath’s exit doesn’t lead to the club overlooking the importance of the academy structure at Cobham.

It’s so vital for the club and the supporters to see young emerging talent continue to develop in the youth system. Eventually, of two or three players should end up pushing for a first-team breakthrough.

When you look at Chelsea’s current group, it shows the importance of the academy.

Let’s just highlight that current club captain Reece James is an academy graduate.
