Rocco Vata officially leaves Celtic for Watford as departure confirmed

Rocco Vata has left Celtic to join Watford for training compensation after he completed a medical at the Sky Bet Championship outfit yesterday.

The Hornets confirmed the arrival of the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international this afternoon in an announcement on their official X account, as seen below.

Vata moves south of the border on a four-year contract with the option of an extra year at Vicarage Road, bringing his long association with Celtic to an end.

In an official statement on their club website, Watford acknowledged that they will be ‘be liable to pay training compensation to Celtic, under FIFA regulations relating to players of Vata’s age’ now that the deal is set in stone [Watford FC].

Rocco Vata leaves Celtic after failing to agree a new contract

Celtic and Vata were in talks for some time over a new deal at Parkhead for the youngster, which never materialised, allowing the youngster to leave upon its expiration.

With the weeks going by, it became more apparent that an exit could be on the cards for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international; nevertheless, it once again created more questions than answers regarding the Hoops’ youth development approach.

Despite showing signs of promise during his six senior appearances at the club, Watford will be the beneficiary of his talents moving forward.

Either way, he joins a growing list of summer casualties at Celtic, which can hopefully pave the way for incomings.

All the best to Vata in his new venture, but he is no longer part of the furniture at Parkhead, meaning there is no option but to concentrate attention elsewhere.
