The latest on Celtic's goalkeeper hunt as target set to leave current club after Euro 2024

Celtic’s quest for a goalkeeper is hotting up and there have been plenty of targets mentioned in connection with Brendan Rodgers’ men.

For now, tonight’s friendly encounter against Ayr United will take precedence; however, it will be intriguing to see if the Irishman sheds any light on deals being close to completion post-match.

Sparta Prague stopper Peter Vindahl Jensen, Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka and free agent Asmir Begovic have all reportedly come to Celtic’s attention, among others.

Following recent developments courtesy of L’Equipe, Rodgers has landed a boost in pursuit of another potential Joe Hart replacement.

Yvon Mvogo set to leave Lorient

Previously, we told how Celtic had been credited with an interest in Lorient stopper Yvon Mvogo, who is with Switzerland at Euro 2024 as a third-choice goalkeeper behind Yann Sommer and Gregor Kobel.

The 30-year-old is now said to be ‘set to leave’ the Ligue 2 outfit following their relegation from Ligue 1 last term, and the Bhoys have ‘positioned’ themselves for his signature alongside Parma.

Nantes and Nice have also been monitoring his availability, with the former pulling out after enquiring about Mvogo’s services.

Last campaign, he made 34 appearances for Lorient across all competitions, keeping four clean sheets in the process [Transfermarkt].

From a personal standpoint, he enjoyed a productive season, recording a save percentage rate of 72% from 207 shots on target faced in Ligue 1, per FBRef.

Whether Celtic firm up interest in his services remains to be seen, but it is certainly a story that seems to be developing in their quest for a new goalkeeper.
