Celtic Women find out their opponents in UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying

Celtic FC Women are fresh from their dramatic Scottish Women’s Premier League title win and will be keen to build on the extraordinary achievement this term.

By virtue of beating Rangers to the league crown on goal difference, they now go into the first round of UEFA Women’s Champions qualifying ready to try and reach the second phase.

The Ghirls are now full steam ahead at Barrowfield ahead of the new campaign, and excitement is mounting in the lead-up to what can hopefully be another historic term for all concerned.

Now, they know who they will face in the first round of Champions League qualifying following the draw earlier today.

Celtic Women find out path to potential progression

Per Celtic FC Women’s official X account, the Ghirls will take on KuPS Kuopio in the ‘champions path’ on September 4th before facing either FC Gintra or Agarista CSF Anenii Noi three days later.

Sadiku’s reigning SWPL champions were entered into Group 3 in Round One of qualification and had the possibility of facing 21 seeded sides.

Official communication from the club on X read: “We have been drawn in Group 3 in Round One of the @UWCL. We face off against KuPS Kuopio on 4 September, before taking on either FC Gintra or Agarista CSF Anenii Noi The final and 3rd place play-off will take place on 7 September. Group venue TBC.”

It is still to be confirmed where the ties will be played. Winners from the semi-final go into a final on September 7th; meanwhile, the two losing sides go head-to-head in a third-place playoff.
