Switzerland coach Murat Yakin recognized that Euro 2024 quarter-final opponents England have a lot of quality, but said his team will cause them problems on Saturday.

"They have a lot of quality. (But) we're in good shape, confident and we have shown already that we can mix it against big teams – against the defending champions (Italy), the hosts (Germany). We will cause England problems," Yakin told a news conference on Friday.

Switzerland had a confidence boost after being the only team to take points away from Germany in the group stage with a 1-1 draw and defeating holders Italy 2-0 in the last 16.

England have not had a great tournament so far and needed a late goal and extra time to defeat Slovakia in the last 16, but Switzerland defender Fabian Schär warned: "I wouldn't underestimate England. They have seen us play well over the past few games and will be ready for it.

"No matter how they've played up to now, they're in the quarter-finals. They have a lot of quality and can always hurt you."

He also stressed that they will have to stop all England players in Dusseldorf, and not only star striker Harry Kane.

"We know how dangerous and difficult it can be but we have defended well in this tournament, defending as a team, and hopefully we can continue to do so," he said.
