Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of July 7

As of 16:00, July 7, 78 combat engagements took place in the frontline in Ukraine, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Of those, 27 attacks were carried out by Russian troops in the Pokrovsk direction, while eight battles are still ongoing.

Attacks by the enemy

In the report, the military noted that the border settlements of Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue to suffer from cynical artillery shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation. The areas of Popivka, Pavlivka, Vodolahy, Myropilske, and Nova Huta were hit by cannon artillery and MLRS fire.

At the same time, the Kharkiv region is under constant bombardment by enemy aircraft. Today, from the Russian cities of Belgorod and Shebekino, terrorists conducted eleven air strikes, dropping 24 UAVs. They targeted the areas of the Ukrainian towns of Liptsy and Vovchansk.

Situation at the frontlines

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops reportedly attacked the defensive lines of Ukrainian units near Starytsia, Lyptsi, and Vovchansk three times. Two attacks were repelled, and one is ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy stormed Ukrainian positions seven times in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Synkivka, Stelmakhivka, and Andriivka. Three firefights are still ongoing. Ukrainian troops are holding steadfastly.

In the Lyman direction, the invading army made 10 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Makiivka, Hrekivka, Nevske, and Terny over the day. Seven engagements ended without success for the enemy, three more are ongoing.

"The enemy continues to look for weaknesses in our defense in the Siversk direction. Near Verkhnekamianske, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks. The situation remains under control," the statement said.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy made one attack on the positions of Ukrainian troops near Kalynivka. The battle is still ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, three unsuccessful hostile attacks took place in the areas of Pivnichne and Toretsk.

The Pokrovsk direction witnessed the largest number of combat engagements. Since the beginning of the day, the occupants have made 27 attempts to push Ukrainian troops from their positions in the areas of Niu York, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Prohres, Lozuvatske, Novoselivka Persha and Yasnobrodivka. The defense forces are holding back the attack and repelled 19 enemy attacks, eight battles are still ongoing. The enemy's losses are being clarified.

"It is worth noting that today, in this area, soldiers of the 110th separate mechanized brigade named after Lieutenant General Marko Bezruchko shot down an enemy Su-25 aircraft," the General Staff said.

Meanwhile, one battle continues in the Kurakhove direction. So far, Ukrainian defenders have repelled 15 attacks by the Russian army. The enemy is concentrating its efforts on Paraskoviivka.

In the Vremivka direction, there were seven enemy attacks near Vodiane, Makarivka and Kostiantynivka. Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled six attacks, another one is ongoing.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian troops repelled two Russian assaults. The enemy failed in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attacked the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

Measures against Russian subversive reconnaissance groups will be intensified in the Kharkiv region. In particular, Ukrainian border guards are already setting up additional observation posts.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that SSU drones attacked a large Russian ammunition depot in the Voronezh region (Russia).
