"Going to have a big career"; Manager delivers glowing verdict on Celtic target's future

Celtic have been linked with many players already this summer and it’s clear the club are looking at both established first-team competitors and youngsters with potential.

Last summer, the Bhoys arguably got the balance on that all wrong with not enough quality added to Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

As the hunt continues for stars who can immediately improve Rodgers’ starting options, it’s important that work on those prospects also goes on.

One teenager linked with the Bhoys is Costa Rica international Andy Rojas, who recently became his country’s youngest representative at the Copa America tournament.

Several clubs are said to be tracking Rojas, who could be available for a bargain fee under £1m.

Walter Centeno addresses interest in Celtic target Andy Rojas

Herediano boss Walter Centeno doesn’t want to lose his young talent on the cheap but reckons Rojas is destined to have a big career.

He said [Scottish Sun]: “I am delighted that Andy is now back with the group. I have been told if there is not a suitable offer acceptable to the club, then Andy will be staying with us. And I certainly hope that happens.

“He is an exceptional kid. Of course, he is just starting up in his career, but he is a huge talent.

“What I like about him is that he takes responsibility at a young age. He is going to have a big career.”

Rojas scored ten goals in his break-out season at the club last term, which prompted his Costa Rica call-up. He can play as a winger or through the middle.

It’s thought that teams from Italy and the Netherlands are also keen on the prospect.

Celtic have also recently been linked with BK Hacken teenager Pontus Dahbo in recent weeks as the club’s scouting department scours different markets for a potential bargain.
