'My information is...': Fabrizio Romano shares what he's heard about Liverpool signing the 'best midfielder in Europe'

Liverpool have yet to really kick into gear in this summer’s transfer window.

The Reds are now into the Arne Slot era and the club will be looking to work with Slot to ensure any new signings fit the bill perfectly.

Of course, Slot’s arrival has seen a host of players linked with moves to Anfield already.

Naturally, a few Dutch players have got a mention as well as the likes of Crysencio Summerville and more have been linked.

Another of those Dutch players to be linked with a move to Liverpool is Atalanta midfielder, Teun Koopmeiners.

The Reds are believed to be big fans of the midfielder and reports in recent days have suggested he’s a player they could sign.

However, providing an update on the situation, Fabrizio Romano has poured doubt on those Liverpool rumours.

Fabrizio Romano shares Teun Koopmeiners update after Liverpool links

Writing about Koopmeiners in his column for CaughtOffside, Romano has said that while Liverpool have been mentioned, it is indeed Juventus who plan on signing the Dutchman.

“Despite some rumours about Liverpool entering the race for Teun Koopmeiners, my information is that the only club in negotiations for the Atalanta midfielder right now is Juventus. Of course it could change and we’ll see what happens in the next days, but Juventus have agreed terms with Koopmeiners, and he seems keen on staying in Serie A.

“Everything is agreed on the player side, and so now Juventus have to reach an agreement with Atalanta. Talks will start very soon after Juve already signed Khephren Thuram, which should be announced in the next days, while Douglas Luiz has also been confirmed as joining in another exciting move to strengthen the Juve midfield.

“Juventus are working on it with Koopmeiners, and we’re just waiting now for their first bid to Atalanta, which should come really soon.”

Dubbed the ‘best midfielder in Europe‘ last season, Koopmeiners was one of the standout players for Atalanta last season and he and a number of his teammates have been linked with moves.

His fellow midfielder at Atalanta, Ederson, has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.

For now, though, it looks like Koopmeiners is Juventus bound and any move by Liverpool is going to be a late one.
