Fans Bemoan ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s’ Cancellation – Will Another Network Save It?

Andy Samberg

Fox has announced the cancellation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, its Andy Samberg-led sitcom about a precinct of goofy detectives who still manage to be very good at their jobs. Over five seasons, B9-9 has had one of the best acting ensembles on TV this decade, which included (in addition to Samberg) Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti, Dirk Blocker, Joel McKinnon Miller, and Emmy nominee Andre Braugher.

Although its viewership numbers were not great, it did manage to be Fox’s highest-rated comedy series this season. And you can certainly tell, based on the outcry from fans of all stripes on Twitter:

And for some people, it appears that this was the only show or one of just a few shows that they kept up with.

But the saga of the 9-9 might not be over quite yet. Talks have been happening, and this could end up being the latest case of a show that was cancelled by a traditional network and then picked up by a streaming service. The industry chatter is suggesting that Hulu is the most viable candidate, which makes sense, as the entire series is currently available there. And the show would be following in the footsteps of The Mindy Project, which aired for 3 seasons on FOX and 3 seasons on Hulu.

For now, let’s revisit some happier times:
