Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Discharged From Hospital

Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Following a successful surgery to remove two cancerous growths from her lung, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released from the hospital Tuesday, Kathy Arberg, a court spokeswomen said in a statement, Wednesday.

On the same day that a biopic about her life, On The Basis of Sex hit theaters nationwide Ginsburg, now 85, was being released from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Already a two-time cancer survivor, Ginsberg was previously reported to be up and working after her initial surgery when she helped to narrowly uphold a lower court decision to block a Trump administration policy to restrict asylum.

Ginsburg is expected to return January 7, along with the rest of the court after its winter break. The cancerous growths were first detected following treatment for a fall the justice took last month.
