Peter Parker Might No Longer Be Part Of The MCU After Marvel/Sony Feud

Far From Home(2019) was the perfect way to start Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man… shhh) trying to move on after losing his friend/mentor/father figure/badass partner Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame. With some of the original (and most popular) Avengers out of the picture, the idea of having the young Tom Holland (Spider-Man) linking the previous phases with this new one seemed like a natural way to modernize the MCU. Unfortunately, it seems like this will no longer be the case, after the reported Marvel and Sony feud over the young hero’s rights.

According to Deadline, after Disney bought Marvel Studios, the company only received a small percentage of the earnings from the last two Spider-Man films (Homecomingand Far From Home) in exchange for Sony allowing them to use the character for three of their MCU movies (Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame). Of course, now it seems that the arrangement wasn’t particularly advantageous for Disney, and after trying to reach a new agreement, Sony has put its foot down, thus ending the highly profitable association.

Since the news broke, Marvel fans have been suggesting that Disney should buy the entire Sony Pictures company as they did with Marvel. But of course, the idea seems pretty unlikely, especially when the latter has been having such a great success at the box office. Naturally, for Sony Pictures, the idea of letting go of one of its most successful characters is out of the question. Not only have the two Tom Holland Spider-Man movies been a success, but also both‌ ‌Venom‌‌and‌ ‌Spiderverse‌ (let’s not forget that this film beat Disney at the Oscars) are having a second part that’s thrilling fans of the spider hero.

Now, though it’s not clear what will happen to the character and his role in the MCU, if the two parties don’t reach a new agreement, it’s safe to say Peter Parker will no longer be in the running to become the next Iron Man. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this unravels in the future and cross our fingers for them to reach a point where everybody is happy, including the millions of fans.
