Bringing Hulkling aboard

As reportedby We Got This Covered, a beloved gay superhero will be introduced in Capitan Marvel 2. We're talking about Hulkling, a half Kree, half Skrull alien with super strength and shapeshifting abilities. And don't let his name deceive you: he's not actually related to Hulk.

Hulkling will reportedly have a small appearance in Captain Marvel 2, but will feature a bigger role in Young Avengers,a series currently under development for Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney+.

The character, whose human name is Teddy Altman, will of course be depicted as openly gay, set to have a romance with Scarlet Witch's son, Wiccan—just like in the comics. Wiccan might in turn be introduced in WandaVision, a series following Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson) and her relationship with Vision (Paul Bettany).

Marvel and LGBT+ inclusion

Marvel's decision to incorporate more LGBT characters followscriticism for its distinct lack of sexual diversity in previous films. After a (way too) subtle appearance of a gay man (Joe Russo's character) in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel promised to pick up the paceon this front.

And they seem to bemaking good on that promise.Thor: Love and Thunderwill reportedly feature Valkyrie's proper sexuality as she looks for a girlfriend, and one of the male members of The Eternalshas also been confirmed to be gay and married with kids.

Small steps, it seems, but good ones nonetheless. It will be great to see more inclusion as the MCU franchise moves forward into its anticipated next phase.
