‘Little Miss Sunshine’ Paul Dano Confirmed As Riddler In New Batman Film

It seems thatThe Batmanis taking shape, as production confirms cast members little by little. Months ago, it was announced, to general skepticism, that Robert Pattinson had been chosen to play the one and only Dark Knight. So, though most of the response to the news was actually negative, we must say that, as more actors have been joining the cast, it makes us wonder if it could actually be a good movie.

Just a couple of days ago, Zoe Kravitz was confirmed as the new Selina Kyle or, as she’s best known, Catwoman. Also joining this new reboot is Westworld's Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and, as was confirmed today, Paul Dano will be the enigmatic Edward Nashton, also known as Edward Nygma, E. Nigma, or his most popular nickname, Riddler.

Dano is best known for his roles in Little Miss Sunshine, Escape at Dannemora, Swiss Army Man, and 12 Years a Slave, most of these indie films. Now, like Riddler, Dano could take a big step into mainstream productions, becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest assets, since he’s proven more than once he’s actually great, serious actor.

Now, let’s discuss the part a bit. Though Riddler is one of Batman’s most famous foes in the comics and in some of the animated series, when it comes to the Batman Cinematic Universe (to call it something), he’s rarely seen. Before Dano, the only one who had portrayed him on the big screen was Jim Carrey in Batman Forever, which was a very Carrey-ish character. So, it will be really interesting to see what Dano brings to the character.

According to Matt Reeves, the movie's director, he’s planning on including a variety of Batman villains in the film. So it’s just a matter of time to see who else will be joining Dano, Kravitz, Wright, and Pattinson in this strange, but actually intriguing cast.
