Matthew McConaughey Eyed For Two-Face In 'The Batman' And Expectations Are High

Despite our first impressions when we found out we would have yet another Batman and that it would be played by Robert Pattinson, it seems that the movie could actually turn out to be an interesting superhero film. After the confirmation of Zoe Kravitzplaying Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Paul Danoas Riddler, more and more names have been added to the list of what would become a worthy Marvel Universe competitor now that its fourth phase is over.

The name that’s been going around is that of Matthew McConaughey, who became known as a serious actor after his moving performance in Dallas Buyers Club(which, by the way, earned him an Academy Award). Now, though it hasn’t been confirmed either by Warner, director of The Batman,Matt Reeves, nor McConaughey himself, rumor has it it’s quite possible for him to join this new universe as the iconic villain Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face.

Apparently, Matt Reeves’ plan is to create a whole Batman universe with different sequels and The Batmanwill only be the introduction to a series of characters who will each have their own movies. For that reason, if Matthew McConaughey ends up signing up for the part, we would only see him for a tiny moment and only as Harvey Dent, not actually in his emblematic transformation. The idea is to show him as the District Attorney before becoming the villainous crime boss of Gotham City, something we would see in his own movie.

@vozenoffshowNow, The Batmanis said to be a kind of free adaptation of the comic “The Long Halloween,” and for that reason, we will be seeing several of our favorite villains. So, as was mentioned before, Catwoman and Riddler have already been confirmed. But there are other roles that still need to find their actors. Rumor has it, Reeves and Warner are already in talks with Colin Farrell to play the Penguin after Jonah Hill dropped out, and there are also plans to bring Firefly and Poison Ivy to the screen.

Besides that, according to Variety, Andy Serkis has also been chosen to play Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, but we’ll have to wait and see if it’s not an issue that he’s directing Sony’sVenom 2, belonging to the Marvel franchise. All these are yet to be confirmed by Warner or Reeves, but what’s for sure is that the movie is already creating a lot of hype among DC fans.

The Batmanis scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021.
