Nurmagomedov took to Instagram while speaking in Russian, he confirmed the reports. Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, was being treated for complications with his heart in addition to the coronavirus. His post was translated into English by ESPN in which he says, “In my personal case, I’ve had more than 20 people sick from my family. More than 20 people were lying in the ICUs. And many of them are no longer among us. Many acquaintances have died, many parents of my relatives. Everybody is having a hard time dealing with it. There is a lot written on the internet about my father. My father, right now, is located in a hospital. He is in critical condition as a result of this virus. It impacted his heart because last year he had a surgery there, and right now, they did another surgery. He is in a very difficult situation, very difficult. We are asking Allah that he returns him to us.”

Abdulmanap receives a lot of the credit for the success of his son as he got Khabib interested in wrestling at a young age.

Nurmagomedov was expected to fight back in April, but due to travel restrictions implemented by the Russian government, as well as his father’s condition, he had to withdraw. He has also not said when he will return to the octagon, but UFC president Dana White believes that Khabib will fight against Justin Gaethje in September.
