Voices from the Black Lives Matter Tokyo Protest

A quiet day of shopping in Shibuya was interrupted by a massive procession of protesters on Sun June 14, 2020, when over 3,000 people marched in solidarity for the Black Lives Matter movement. Since the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minnesota, the world has erupted into protests against police violence. When the Tokyo chapter of Black Lives Matter held its own peaceful march, GaijinPot went to the scene to speak with organizers and participants about the importance of the movement and the atmosphere around racial discrimination in Japan.
