Fallout 76 still getting official mod support

'Fallout 76' is still set to get the long-awaited official mod support.

The Bethesda title's project lead Jeff Gardiner has confirmed that they are hard at work on the feature - which was first announced before the game launched in November 2018.

Speaking on a panel for the QuakeCon At Home's broadcast, he stated: "We call it the heavy lift, meaning we've had to put a lot of resources into that.

"It's not just drag-and-drop from the previous games because of the way our client-server architecture works. But it is coming, we're working on it... just stay tuned."

Development boss Chris Mayer admitted last year that it was no easy task to create mod support.

He explained: "It mandated that we changed everything from the scripting engine to how the systems work, because now you have round trip from the client to the server to get it validated by the server and back to the client for most of our systems."

Meanwhile, Bethesda recently admitted 'Doom Eternal' was delayed because of the poor reaction to 'Fallout 76'.

The studio's senior vice president of global marketing and communications opened up on the decision to the delay the game until it eventually released in March this year.

Pete Hines said: "We said, 'These are not ready, and we're not going to make another mistake, and we're going to take the extra time even though that time hurts, and is painful, and you miss a holiday.' "

Despite the downsides to postponing a release and missing out on Christmas sales, he felt the team made the right choice.

He added: "'Doom Eternal' was so much better for it, and the response to 'Wastelanders' was so much better for the extra time."
