FIFA 21 won't support cross-play

EA (Electronic Arts) has confirmed that 'FIFA 21' won't allow cross-play on multiple systems.

A tweet by FIFA Direct Communication confirmed that it won't be possible to play the football game "across console generations or cross-play".

Responding to the FUT Weekly Podcast account's message asking to clear up a common question about the game among their listeners, they explained: "You won't be able to play across console generations or cross-play in #FIFA21.

"However, you will be able to carry over your FUT progression from PS4 to PS5 and Xbox 1 to Xbox Series X."

Meanwhile, it was just confirmed that the hotly-anticipated title will let gamers replay missed chances and more with an exciting new feature.

The latest teaser trailer for the upcoming edition to the annual EA Sports franchise showed a whole host of improvements and new additions to enhance this year's title.

In kick-off mode, players will now get a second chance at scuffed shots and awful penalties with the Rewind system.

A similar feature has already been used in certain driving games.

The team have also looked to tackle through balls this year, with a new 'long' option giving players more variety when it comes to picking out the perfect pass.

Similarly, Agile Dribbling will complement skill moves by affording greater control and unpredictability for attackers to embrace.

'FIFA 21' may also bring the franchise's more comical moments to an end, with more natural collisons now set to occur with some new animations.

Plus, gamers will have more of an influence when it comes to the movement of their teammates.

Directed pass-and-go and direct runs will give everyone the chance to guide attackers into the right position, while you can also lock on to take full control of just one forward.

Finally, players considering taking their gaming to the next level can try out the new Competitor Mode, which is an offline difficulty level a step above Legendary, and is based on real-life pro gamers.
