Halo Infinite rumoured to be skipping Xbox One

'Halo Infinite' is rumoured to be skipping the Xbox One and jumping straight to the Xbox Series X.

According to VGC, Reddit user Sponger - who has a history of correctly leaking Xbox news - has claimed that the much-anticipated title could be heading straight to the Microsoft's next-gen console.

He has alleged that developers 343 Industries currently can't get the game working at 1080p on the Xbox One S.

He wrote: "[The] current version of 'Halo Infinite' on Xbox One S is nowhere near 1080p (even lower than 900p) and is having serious asset loading issues (much worse than you have seen on PC demo)."

On how they will likely get the game up and running, Sponger added that the "Idea is to change at the engine level how assets load, make RT as default (improve/unlock some assets), improve geometry, post-processing and add more CPU bound interactivity."

The report comes after devs asked fans to "hold tight" after the game was delayed until 2021.

The upcoming first-person shooter game was originally meant to be released later this year in time for the new Xbox Series X launch, but it was revealed this month that the title won't be launching until 2021.

And now, developers at 343 Industries have promised to share more details about the delay in the future, but have asked that people be patient, as they're not yet ready to answer questions on the topic.

In a post on Twitter, community manager John Junyszek said: "FYI: There will not be a Community Update this week. We know there are lots of questions out there, especially in regards to Halo Infinite, but please hold tight for now. There's a lot to work through, including communication plans, but please know we'll share more when ready (sic)"

'Halo Infinite' was supposed to be the exclusive launch title for the Xbox Series X, but following the delay, Xbox boss Phil Spencer insisted the setback won't delay the launch of the next generation console.

Phil was quoted as saying the postponement was "disappointing", but said the absence of the exclusive title "isn't going to change too much" for the Xbox Series X launch strategy.

Instead, the company will focus on the Game Pass, which is a monthly subscription service that allows players to access a range of different games for a fixed monthly price.

Phil said: "You were going to hear a lot about the console and a lot about Game Pass and how we think those two things together are a real great value proposition for gamers going into the next generation."

Whilst 'Halo: Infinite' has been delayed until 2021, a firm release date has not been confirmed as of the time of writing.
