Jeff Bezos named first person worth $200 billion

Jeff Bezos has become the first person to be worth $200 billion.

The Amazon CEO reached the milestone on Wednesday (26.08.20), when it was revealed that his net worth rocketed by $4.9 billion, as the firm's stock went up by two per cent.

As per Forbes, Bezos is now worth $204.6 billion, which means he's worth a whopping $90 billion more than Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates, who is worth $116.1 billion.

It was recently revealed that Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg is worth more than $100 billion, whilst Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has a net worth of $96 billion.

Meanwhile, Apple has become the first US company to be valued at $2 trillion.

Tim Cook's firm was named the first company in the world to hit a trillion in 2018, and just two years later, they've smashed another record.

Share prices for the tech giant hit $467.77 in the US, up 50 per cent, on August 18, pushing it over $2 trillion.

The iPhone makers surpassed oil firm Saudi Aramco, whose value went down to $1.8 trillion.

Apple recorded their third quarter figures at the end of July, which included $59.7bn of revenue.

Amazon is the second most valuable company in the US, with Bezos' online retail empire worth around $1.7 trillion.

Microsoft is said to be around the £1.6 trillion mark, whilst Google's owners Alphabet have just over $1 trillion.
