'Rocket League' is getting a new competitive rank

The current highest competitive rank in the game is Grand Champion, but that is soon to change.

The title is getting a free-to-play update soon, which means that new PC players will have to get the game from the Epic Games Store instead of Steam. When this update occurs, there will also be a change to the game's ranks.

Grand Champion will be split into three tiers, like the rest of the current ranks are.

There will also be a new highest rank added: Supersonic Legend.

However, a specific date for this update hasn't been announced yet. However, a blog post on the 'Rocket League' website says: "We'll be rolling out an update on current platforms in the next few weeks around mid September, and the launch of free to play will follow shortly after. We can't share the exact date quite yet, but stay tuned for more info."
