'Minecraft Live' is taking place in October

'Minecraft Live' is taking place in October.

The fan event used to be called 'Minecon', but this year it has been rebranded as 'Minecraft Live', and it is set to take place on October 3rd. This time it will be held online, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

When describing what this year's event has in store, a blog post on the official Minecraft website written by Mojang's Sofia Dankis stated that it will give the game's fans "answers to pertinent questions about what the rest of Mojang Studios have been working on all year", and since the Minecraft Festival has been delayed until 2022, Mojang is making sure that with 'Minecraft Live' they are "going to bring the party directly to your device and we've got all of our usual goodies lined up for you".

Dankis also joked about the name change, writing: "Minecraft Live is the new version of our annual live show, which has had many names such as MINECON Live and MINECON Earth. Why the name change? Would you ask rap superstar and underrated actor Sean Combs a.k.a P. Diddy a.a.k.a Puff Daddy that? No, you would not."
