Apple to ditch earphones with iPhone 12?

Apple's new iPhone 12 may not come with earphones.

According to code spotted by MacRumors, iOS 14 mentioned a reference to "supplied headphones", but with the iOS 14.2 update, the word "supplied" has been removed, suggesting they won't be included in the box.

It's been rumoured since back in June, when trusted analyst, Ming-chi Kuo, suggested Apple could ditch the earphones in order to push people to consider investing in a pair of their wireless Airpods.

Kuo also predicts that the firm could remove the power adaptor that comes with iPhones, in a bid to phase out the existing 5W and 18W charger.

The new iPhone is expected to be unveiled in October.

Apple previously announced that it will be delayed by a month to October, due to Covid-19 production setbacks.

During an investors meeting on July 30, Apple executive Luca Maestri said: "Last year we started selling new iPhones in late September.

"This year we expect supply to be available a few weeks later."

It's expected that there will be four versions of the iPhone 12 released, including their first 5G-ready device.
