Apex Legends gets crossplay in Aftermarket Collection Event Xbox and PlayStation players can find out which console is superior.

It's time to end the biggest gaming debate of all time. Who are the best gamers: Xbox players, PlayStation players, or PC players?

Apex Legends is getting a crossplay beta next week. On October 6, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC players can all compete together in the Aftermarket Collection Event. There will be new content, cosmetics, rewards, and a limited-time mode called "Flashpoint."

"It's going to be a hell of a ride," Apex Legends tweeted.

How does Apex Legends crossplay work?

According to Apex Legends game director Chad Grenier, players will be able to add, invite, and chat with teammates on any of the three aforementioned platforms. While players can jump right into the action, Grenier noted that there are some matchmaking options players should be aware of throughout the beta.

During the event, console players will be grouped together and PC players will be grouped exclusively with other PC players. According to Grenier, the reasons for this are "obvious," pointing to the advantages of a keyboard and mouse over console controllers. Gamepads lack the range of motion offered by mice and lead to slower and less accurate reaction times, giving most PC players the upper hand. This is an issue that Fortnite players often debate, with Fortnite's controller aim assist making it even more controversial when PC and console players are grouped together.

While Apex Legends hasn't announced a way to make controllers just as viable as keyboard and mouse aside from a form of aim assist, Xbox and PlayStation players will have the option to play matches with PC players if they like. Players can also disable the crossplay feature altogether, but this might lead to a higher queue time.

Developers will be watching the crossplay event unfold and studying how controller players perform against PC players. They will be gathering feedback from the community throughout the beta as well. Aftermarket ends on October 20, but the crossplay beta has no announced end date.
