Sony thinks the PS5’s initial sales will beat the PS4

Sony believes that the PlayStation 5 will sell more at launch than the PlayStation 4 did.

The company’s next-gen console is set to be released in November, and it seems Sony has high hopes for it!

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan said during an interview with South Korean site Naver that they think “the PS5 will sell more in its first fiscal year” than the PS4 did.

Ryan did admit that “It is difficult to talk about the overall game market or other game consoles, but [he thinks] the value is obvious in the case of the PS5”, and added that he believes Sony’s next-gen console will “excite fans around the world with the best exclusive games on the market today and deliver a truly next-generation device experience that will captivate them”.

The PlayStation 4 was a huge success: it launched back in 2013 and sold 7 million units in its first fiscal year, so the PlayStation 5 will have to sell extremely well when it launches to beat that impressive figure.
