Lizzo Celebrates Her Vegan Diet, Says ‘Love Yourself At All Stages in Your Life’

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 22: Lizzo accepts Entertainer of the Year award onstage during the 51st NAACP Image Awards, Presented by BET, at Pasadena Civic Auditorium on February 22, 2020 in Pasadena, California.

Lizzo celebrated six months on a vegan diet in a new TikTok video reflecting on her switch to the diet and encouraging fans to love themselves at “all stages” of their lives.

The Grammy-winning singer, 32, narrates over an older video of herself. “Hey, so I found this video of me from the beginning of quarantine making what looks like a stale donut, poundcake, milkshake type concoction,” she says. “This is from a whirlwind tour and year, and after being seven years vegetarian, going back to eating all animal products.”

The video then switches to a more recent one of the singer in workout gear. “This is me now, making my vegan protein shake,” she says. “Honestly, I am both of these women and I cannot condemn one woman or the other. I’m happy both ways and right now, this is what’s bringing me joy.”

She encouraged fans to embrace all sides of themselves as she has. At the end of her TikTok, she tell her followers, “Love yourself at all stages in your life because you are who you are.”

Lizzo has been open about her workout routines and has shared meal plans often after announcing she was going vegan earlier this year. She has also been very vocal about “fat-shaming” such as in her video calling out judgemental people in June. “I’ve been working out consistently for the last five years and it may come as a surprise to some of y’all that I’m not working out to have your ideal body type. I’m working out to have my ideal body type,” she said in the video. “And you know what type that is? None of your f—— business because I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job, and I stay on my job.”
