PlayStation CEO thinks VR won’t be ‘meaningful’ to the gaming industry for a while

VR seems to have grown in popularity over the years, with more Virtual Reality headsets being released and more video games nowadays include an option to play with the headsets.

However, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan believes that it will be a while until VR becomes “a meaningful component of interactive entertainment”, but he did insist that he thinks it will become a major part of the gaming industry “at some point in the future”.

He told The Washington Post: “I think we’re more than a few minutes from the future of VR. PlayStation believes in VR. Sony believes in VR, and we definitely believe at some point in the future, VR will represent a meaningful component of interactive entertainment. Will it be this year? No. Will it be next year? No. But will it come at some stage? We believe that.”
