Halo: The Master Chief Collection to get update for next-gen consoles

‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ is set to get an upgrade for the Xbox Series X and Series S.

The two next-generation consoles will be released on November 10, and one week after their launch on November 17, ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ will receive an important update that will take advantage of the new consoles’ power.

Producer Matt Hohl has now shared some new insight on the updates, as he said players can expect the title to look and feel better than ever.

Speaking to Waypoint, Matt said there is a "raw performance improvement across the board”, which will see those with supported displays able to play ‘Halo: MCC’ at up to 120fps/4K on Series X and 1080p on Series S.

Players can also expect increased draw distances and an "improved split-screen experience" for both campaign and multiplayer, as well as faster loading times.

Matt said: "I can't wait until everyone gets to experience these loading times.

“One of the side-effects of the new consoles is that loading is so much faster now that we have to make sure it doesn't disrupt matchmaking.”

The update for ‘Halo: MCC’ - which originally launched in 2014 - comes as the next game in the franchise, ‘Halo Infinite’, has been delayed until 2021.

Last month, an Xbox insider revealed the game is “more or less content complete”, and said developers at 343 Industries are "fully focused on the technical aspects" of the game, which they hope to finish in time for a 2021 release.
