Donal Logue signs up for Resident Evil movie

Donal Logue has signed up for the ‘Resident Evil’ origin movie.

The 54-year-old actor will play Chief Irons in the upcoming movie based on Capcom’s iconic survival horror video games.

He joins Kaya Scodelario, who will play Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell will portray Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper is Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia is Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough will play William Birkin.

‘The Flash star Chad Rook and ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ star Lily Gao have also have been cast in supporting roles.

The film will be set in Raccoon City in 1998, the origin area of a zombie apocalypse which is spread as a result of a deadly virus and bioweapon unleashed by pharmaceutical company the Umbrella Corporation.

The film will be written and directed by ‘47 Meters Down’ director Johannes Roberts.

He said: With this film, I really wanted to go back to the original, first two games and the associated terrifying experience that I had when I first played them. And at the same time, I am telling the story of a small, dying American town that will appear both familiar and relevant to today's audiences."
