Colorado Man Came To D.C. To Kill Speaker Nancy Pelosi & D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Prosecutors Say

WASHINGTON, DC - DECEMBER 05: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that the House will proceed with articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump at the Speaker's Balcony in the U.S. Capitol December 05, 2019 in...

A disturbing ten-page memo filed in the D.C. District Courts last week details the actions one Colorado man took with the intent to assassinate both Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D).

The man was arrested on Jan. 7, the day after the riots in the Capitol building, when he headbutted a pedestrian and fled the scene in his truck, which was filled with “about 2,500 rounds of ammunition,” and multiple firearms.

The man’s phone had several incriminating text messages which he admitted he sent. After the electoral certification on Jan. 6, the man wrote that he was “3.5 hours from target practice.” After being arrested, the man openly told to police that he wanted to kill the Speaker and Mayor on live television.

Due in part to his profanity-filled interrogation with police, the man is being held without bail until his trial. D.C. prosecutors said specifically that “[n]o conditions or combination of conditions can ensure the community’s safety and his return to this jurisdiction for future court proceedings.”

Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Michael Sherwin mirrored the prosecutors’ chilling statement saying the Colorado man is “a clearly disturbed, deranged, and dangerous individual that fantasizes about committing horrific acts of violence and takes countless steps to carry them out by driving across several states with a trailer stocked with thousands of rounds of ammunition and multiple firearms — including an assault style rifle — should not remain in the community.”
