Before Brady went to prepare for the Super Bowl, he wanted to encourage Mahomes, who was in his first NFL season as a starting quarterback. Fast forward to this past Monday, Mahomes reflected on Brady’s visit back in 2018 and explained that it meant a lot to him.

“It was important because it showed I was doing things the right way,” Mahomes told ESPN. Mahomes, 25, and the Chiefs are preparing for this Sunday as they are set to face Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

“As a young quarterback in this league, you show up early and you try to put in the time and put in the work…. Him saying that he respected what I was doing and how I was playing on the field and the type of person I was, kind of put a stamp on me that I needed to go in and even be better to get to the Super Bowl,” Mahomes said.

Mahomes grew up watching 43-year-old Brady win those championships with the Patriots and has discussed how much he admires Brady and his success.

On Sunday, Mahomes will try to win back-to-back championships with Kansas City. The Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in last year’s Super Bowl. But, to win this year’s championship, Mahomes will have to face Brady. Brady has won six Super Bowl titles, and all of them have been with the New England Patriots. This will be Brady’s first Super Bowl appearance with the Bucs and will mark the first time in history that the game is being played in the same city that is hosting the event.
