Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD announced for Nintendo Switch

'The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD' has been announced for the Nintendo Switch.

The hugely popular title - which was originally released on the Wii in 2011 and Wii U five years later - is set to launch on the gaming giant's current console.

As revealed during last night's (17.02.21) Nintendo Direct event, the remastered version will improve on the previous releases and is set to drop on July 16, with pre-orders now live.

However, the actual visuals don't seem to have been significantly upgraded for the upcoming title.

Instead, the game has received a number of welcome quality-of-life improvements.

These include the Switch version making good use of the Joy-Con controllers, which results in smoother motion controls.

There's also an option to play the game with button-only controls, for those who either can't or simply don't want to use motion controls.

For those who do though, Nintendo has unveiled a new version of the Switch's Joy-Con controllers, which are themed after 'The Legend of Zelda'.

There are two set to drop, based on both the Master Sword and Hylian Shield.

Elsewhere, 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed there is nothing to share about the sequel, but that things are "proceeding smoothly'.

He added: "For now, we'll have to ask you to wait just a bit longer."
