Google Pixel 6 could get 4K video for front facing camera

The Google Pixel 6 could introduce 4K resolution for front facing video.

High resolution videos are a fixture of many smartphones - which 4K and 8K available on some top devices - but typically front facing cameras have only gone up to 1080p so far.

However, 9to5Google reports that the new version of the Google Camera app references plans for the Pixel 6.

According to the code, the handset will record front facing video at 4K, which to date is only really done by super-premium phones like Hauwei's Mate 40 Pro.

The Pixel 6 will also move the position of its punch-hole front facing camera cut-out, as it goes from the top left of the screen - as seen on the Pixl 5 - to top centre.
