The University of Kansas has announced that they have parted ways with head coach Les Miles.

The decision to part ways with Miles comes after LSU published a report on how the university handled sexual misconduct allegations in 2013. The report revealed that Miles was accused of multiple instances of sexual misconduct. Amongst the instances includes Miles texting female student workers on a burner phone, driving them alone to his condo, and kissing a student on one occasion.

Following the 2013 investigation, Miles was banned from being alone with female students. In the report, former athletic director Joe Alleva recommended that Miles be fired in 2013. However, that recommendation was not followed because LSU learned that they would have to pay Miles a $15 million buyout.

On Monday, Kansas decided to part ways with the head coach. Kansas athletic director Jeff Long issued a statement on behalf of the university. “I am extremely disappointed for our university, fans, and everyone involved with our football program,” Long said. “There is a lot of young talent on this football team, and I have no doubt we will identify the right individual to lead this program.”

Meanwhile, the recently fired head coach gave his own statement. Miles remarked that it was a “difficult day for me and for my family.” The former head coach went on to say that the university is in a better state. “I have truly enjoyed being the head coach at KU and know that it is in a better place now than when I arrived,” Miles said.

Time will tell if Miles ever gets another head coaching gig. Despite his expertise, it is hard to imagine a team taking a chance on the PR nightmare. Miles could be done with his professional coaching career.
