Day one of the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Chapter 2 - Season 5 is officially in the books. Thirty-three teams across all seven of the game’s competitive regions are vying for a piece of the $3M USD prize pool that’s on the line. All three winning players will also hold the sacred Axe of Champions for an entire season. NA East, NA West and Europe possess most of the prize money this season, and the storylines are plentiful in each of those three regions.
The finalists competed in six games on day one, which set the stage for an exciting finish. Some teams are in a great position, whereas others will need a better effort on day two. Let’s take a look at how the action played out in the FNCS Season 5 Grand Finals.

Europe

The competition in the EU region couldn’t be any close after six matches. Setty, Kami and teeq stole the lead in the final game, where they managed seven eliminations and the Victory Royale. They weren’t the only ones to establish a presence in the Grand Finals. Six different teams walked away with a game win, and five of those six are inside the top ten currently. Day two should produce an insane finish with so many top teams in contention.

Defending FNCS Champions Deyy, Mero and Reverse2k sit atop the NA East leaderboard after one day. The Season 4 winners managed an insane 45 eliminations along with one Victory Royale across six matches against some of Fortnite’s best trios. It’s a tall task to close, but these three have 165 points with only six games remaining. Multiple tournament winners Slackes, Acorn and Jahq are behind the leaders by 18 points. Several teams are within striking distance of first place.

The final region of day one did not disappoint. After six matches, XTRA Quinn, Jucy and TSG dylannx7 have a slight lead over the defending NA West champs - Arkhram, rehx and EpikWhale. Kytrex, ast chicken and slct avail shocked the world with two Victory Royales; they currently sit in third place. All teams inside the top-four have a shot to take down the current front runners. Once again, it will be an exciting conclusion tomorrow.
