OWL 2021 Power Rankings - #1 San Francisco Shock

The San Francisco Shock takes 1st place in our Overwatch League 2021 power rankings.

The reigning Champions of the Overwatch League are back for a new season! The San Francisco Shock won the trophy twice already and further improved its roster for the upcoming season.

San Francisco Shock 2021 Roster Preview

Tank:

The San Francisco Shock has the most solid front lane in the Overwatch League, with the trio of Matthew "super" DeLisi, Hyo-bin "ChoiHyoBin" Choi, and Myeong-hwan "smurf" Yoo working since 2018.

Matthew "super" DeLisi is one of the most decorated players in the Overwatch League. His aggressive Reinhardt gameplay helped him win the Overwatch League twice, as well as the Overwatch World Cup 2019. He was also nominated as Role Star, All-Star, and is an MVP Runner-Up.

Hyo-bin "ChoiHyoBin" Choi is the most consistent off-tank in the Overwatch League. His performance helped the San Francisco Shock win the Overwatch League twice. ChoiHyoBin was awarded MVP of the Overwatch League 2019 Grand Finals.

Myeong-hwan "smurf" Yoo is completing the tanking line alongside Super and ChoiHyoBin. His ability to flex on any main tank is of great value to the San Francisco Shock, as the shifting metas can prevent them from running an aggressive Super on Reinhardt.

Support:

Minki "Viol2t" Park is the support player of San Francisco Shock that has been with the team for the longest time. He joined the San Francisco Shock back in 2018, and his Zenyatta is one of the most dangerous in the League.

Joo-seok "Twilight" Lee is a flex player, formerly playing with RunAway. He joined the Overwatch League for the 2019 season, as the Vancouver Titans acquired RunAway. He placed second in the Overwatch League 2019 Playoffs, before joining the San Francisco Shock mid-season. With the team, Twilight won the May Melee and Countdown Cup tournaments, as well as the Overwatch League 2020 Grand Finals.

Brice "FDGod" Monsçavoir is the Lucio revelation from the Overwatch League 2020 Season. The French player played with the Paris Eternal last season. The team won the Summer Showdown but didn’t manage to place higher despite FDGod’s consistent gameplay on Lucio.

DPS:

Nam-joo "Striker" Kwon is one of the best DPS in the Overwatch League. He masters both hitscan heroes and Tracer, making him able to flex depending on the situation. Prior to joining the San Francisco Shock and winning the Overwatch League 2019 and 2020 Grand Finals, Striker helped the Boston Uprising set a new record. When he was with the team, the Boston Uprising managed to run a full stage with zero defeats. Since he joined the San Francisco Shock, the team snatched two Overwatch League victories, and Striker was awarded Playoffs MVP of the Overwatch League 2020 Season.

Sean Taiyo "ta1yo" Henderson made his first steps in the Overwatch League last Summer, with the San Francisco Shock. Prior to joining the League, he placed second in the Overwatch Contenders 2018 Season 2: Pacific and Overwatch Contenders 2020 Season 1: North America. His Ashe play is among the best in the League, and his flexibility to other DPS heroes is a real added value for the San Francisco Shock.

Charlie "nero" Zwarg is a former Guangzhou Charge player who joined the San Francisco Shock last November. With the Guangzhou Charge, nero won the Overwatch League 2020 Summer Showdown and placed 5th during the Regular Season. He plays a variety of heroes, from Mei to Hanzo or Pharah. He is also able to flex to other roles, even though the San Francisco Shock roster is packed enough and shouldn’t need it this season.

Gil-seong "Glister" Lim is the latest addition to San Francisco Shock’s roster. He joined the team last December, following a year with the London Spitfire. The Overwatch League 2020 season was not the best for the London Spitfire, as the team barely managed to secure 7th place of most tournaments and Asian Playoffs. However, Glister was luckier in the Overwatch Contenders, winning the 2018 Season 1: Korea and placing 4th in The Gauntlet.

San Francisco Shock Power Rankings

The San Francisco Shock has been reigning in the Overwatch League for two years now, and this trend doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. While the team lost DPS player Dong-jun "Rascal" Kim to the Philadelphia Fusion and Seonchang "ANS" Lee who retired, the San Francisco Shock can still count on one of the best DPS lineups of the Overwatch League.

The individual skills of San Francisco Shock’s tank players are among the best in the League. They are also used to playing together, forming a trio since 2018. Last but not least, the support players of the Shock. Grant "moth" Espe left for the Los Angeles Gladiators, but San Francisco Shock signed the best Lucio player from the League, Brice "FDGod" Monsçavoir.

The 2021 roster of San Francisco Shock gathers some of the best players from all across the Overwatch League. The team already won the Overwatch League twice and aims to snatch the trophy for the third time in a row.
