Minecraft hits 140 million monthly users

'Minecraft' is celebrating 140 million monthly users.

A new factsheet, unveiled by Microsoft, has revealed that at the end of April 2021, the popular game had raked in the huge amount of users as well as selling 238 million copies so far.

And aside from the game itself, it was the most watched game on YouTube last year with over 200 billion views whilst 90 per cent of US residents are "aware of the Minecraft brand".

It comes after a website started hiring Minecraft gardening consultants for players who need help landscaping in the game.

WhatShed, a site that usually reviews garden sheds, is looking for applicants who will use their gaming and gardening skills to aid players seeking help to improve the look of their virtual world.

The company said: "Consultants will be able to lend their expertise for achieving gardening excellence while sticking to the player's Minecoin budget (in-game currency)."

The website wants the successful candidate to have a working knowledge of Minecraft as well as a "creative flair".

The job posting states: "While not essential, previous experience in landscape gardening is beneficial. A passion for gardening/the outdoors must also be demonstrated."
