ALGS Championship 2021 Crowdfunding and Prize Pool

Respawn Entertainment has announced that it will put extra prize pool money into the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Championship 2021 through a crowdfunding event. With only a couple of days left, the ALGS Championship kicks off from May 22 to July 13, wherein 30-40 teams in all 5 regions will compete. Thanks to the purchasable cosmetics available soon, fans can support the esports tournament and their favorite Apex Legends teams by increasing the prize pool.

ALGS Championship 2021 Prize Pool

Starting May 18, five different item bundles are sold to help raise additional money. For each Mechameleon, Boared to Death, Wild Speed and Silverback bundle sold Respawn adds $5 into the prize pool. Additionally, for any fan that purchases the Animal Kingdom bundle, Respawn adds $20. The crowdfunding lasts until June 1.

Fans can purchase all the bundles but there is a maximum cap of $2 million for the added ALGS prize pool. This means that instead of teams receiving a share of the $1 million prize pool, groups might compete for up to $3 million. It’s also another opportunity for fans to get unique cosmetics while supporting their favorite Apex Legends esports teams and players.

ALGS Championship Details

Starting soon, the ALGS Championship takes place between May 22 and June 13. Around 30-40 teams from each super region will compete for a dividend of the massive prize pool. Those super regions include North America, South America, EMEA, APAC North and APAC South.

However, only one team from each region can be crowned the Apex Legends Global Series Championship champions at the end of the tournament. All prize pool shares are different between the regional competitions. Only 20 teams get rewarded through final placements, but there is an MVP prize for the most eliminations.

Apex Legends Esports Breaks Records

It’s been a steady climb towards the ALGS Championship. Last year, players had to move to online events and participate in seasonal tournaments. Although there were some challenges, the ALGS persisted and continued. It wasn’t too long ago that the ALGS “experienced record-setting engagement rates and viewership.”

The game itself surpassed 100 million unique players since its launch. Additionally, the Winter Circuit Playoffs caught the eyes of fans and amassed an average-minute audience of over 100 thousand. Overall, both the casual and competitive side of Apex Legends has been rocking it lately and it doesn’t seem like it’s stopping. Fans can watch the event on Twitch or YouTube and also earn cosmetic drops when viewing. Find out more information about the purchasable bundles on the EA website.
