Fortnite: FNCS Season 6 Finals Preview — Europe Edition

ESTNN breaks down the European FNCS Season 6 Finals.

The Fortnite Champion Series in Chapter 2 - Season 6 is in its final week. Teams across the game's seven competitive regions are readying themselves for a historical conclusion to the eighth seasonal event of the same name. That sentiment applies, particularly to the European region. Many of the world's best players inhabit the EU scene, making it one of the most challenging to win.

Twelve matches separate one of the 33 remaining trios from ultimate glory. These players will compete for a $300K USD grand prize, the in-game Axe of Champions and a piece of history that no one can ever erase. Today, the European region is our primary focus. We'll be looking at a comprehensive drop map showing where all of the finalists plan to land. Join us as we break down the finals and isolate trios with the highest upside.

Notable Teams in the European Finals:

  • GUILD Hen, GUILD JannisZ, chapix (Season 5 FNCS Champions, 3x Trio Cash Cup winners, DreamHack Cash Cup Extra #3 winners)
  • GUILD Anas, GUILD Flikk, GAMMA Th0masHD (2nd in Season 5 FNCS, 3rd in Season 4 FNCS)
  • Wave Vadeal, BL Noahreyli, Rezon ay (3rd in Season 5 FNCS, 2nd in DreamHack Cash Cup Extra #1, 3rd in Cash Cup Extra #3)
  • MCES Andilex, Grizi Snayzy, MCES xsweeze (Mos Series Points, 4th in Season 5 FNCS, 2x 2nd in Trio Cash Cups)
  • Grizi 4zr, Nayte, GUILD TaySon (2x Trio Cash Cup wins, DreamHack Cash Cup Extra #1 winners)

Hen, JannisZ & chapix

)

We could keep this section short and call for the Season 5 Champions to repeat in Season 6, but it might not be that simple. Despite the team's continued success — which includes an NA East Cash Cup victory — no trio is impervious to contested drops. All indications are that recent Cash Cup winners hycr1s, Night and Vortex will not leave Craggy Cliffs. It seems inevitable that tensions will spike between these two teams.

Yes, Hen, JannisZ and chapix are unquestionably the world's best trio, but the odds of winning 12 consecutive spawn fights aren't high. What's more, it only takes a few poor matches to ruin a team's momentum completely. Regardless, the "alpha" mindset remains, and the Season 5 Champions need every ounce of energy and luck to overcome their Craggy rivals.

Th0masHD, Flikk & Anas

)

The GUILD/GAMMA connection of Flikk, Anas and Th0masHD had a surprisingly quiet season after finishing runner-up in the Season 5 Finals. Their highest finish over the last few months saw them take fourth in a Trio Cash Cup. None of that has ever mattered for Th0masHD, Flikk and Anas, who are arguably the second-best team in the world. They've delivered a top-three finish in FNCS Seasons 4 and 5, displaying unfathomable consistency.

As per usual, Th0masHD, Flikk and Anas will glide into Dirty Docks uncontested. We've seen what happens when that's the case. These three have shown an impressive ability to adjust strategies when needed to take a team above them out of the equation. Storm Surge could pose a challenge since no other trios plan to land near them. Still, it seems inevitable that Th0masHD, Flikk and Anas will win an FNCS, which could be this season.

Vadeal, Noahreyli, Rezon ay

)

It sure seems that we are merely copying and pasting the leaderboard from last season's FNCS, where Vadeal, Noahreyli and Rezon settled in third. Mesmerizing is the perfect word to describe Vadeal, Noahreyli and Rezon. These three provide the ideal combination of insane mechanics and aim, both of which usually are enough to achieve their goals. When they are on, no one can stop them.

Vadeal and company have staked a claim on Boney Burbs, an underrated POI this season. With Storm Surge options gathering around the map's center, these three should be atop the leaderboard come Sunday. It would surprise no one if they triumphed and became the FNCS Champions.

TaySon, 4zr & nayte

)

The two-time FNCS Champion, TaySon, finds himself with his third different team in three seasons. Somehow, he's made the Grand Finals in each, winning one and placing top-ten in the other. He now finds himself with talented French players 4zr and nayte. Fresh off convincingly winning Heat B and taking second in the last Cash Cup, this trio is peaking at the best time.

They'll have Sweaty Sands to themselves with Storm Surge options aplenty, top-tier loot and even an upgradable NPC located west. TaySon and nayte have proven their talent as players, and 4zr just won the DreamHack Open. These Euros are in a prime position to sit atop the throne and win the $300K USD first prize.

Other Teams of Note

Andilex, xsweeze and Snayzy have all the tools needed to succeed apart from their landing choice. The trio revealed that they would partly concede Catty Corner, and instead focus on Weather Station and Camp Cod. This choice could negatively affect their Storm Surge options. Far north zones could also pose a problem, but the French squad made it here for a reason.

Queasy, TruleX and Jur3ky are another trio worth discussing. They always lurk on leaderboards despite not having a standout result in Season 5. That remained the case until the Semi-Finals, where they took second place. Queasy, TruleX and Jur3ky have been landing at the Flush Factory and Dam split for quite some time. These two spots afford upgraded weapons and more metal than any team could imagine. Keep an eye out for these three in the finals.

Contested Drops & Spawn Fights

Eighteen of the 33 finalists plan to contest another for a drop in the Season 6 Finals. It's a bizarre choice that never typically pays off. As we said before, taking 50/50 fights against another team is not the high-percentage play. Nevertheless, these teams have shown no signs of leaving. The drama will be at an all-time high, and we are here for every minute of the chaos.

The European action begins Saturday at 1 PM EST with the first half of matches. Refer to our viewing guide for the full schedule, list of players and prize pool information for all regions. Also check out our NA East preview before the weekend!
