Sinead O’Connor has announced on Twitter that she is retiring from her music career.

Fans responded to her tweet, asking whether they would still be able to attend the shows that were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. O’Connor clarified this question by saying that all shows are canceled.

She later shared a tweet that said that this announcement is “not sad news. It’s staggeringly beautiful news. A wise warrior knows when he or she should retreat,” and added the hashtag “#MeTime” at the end of the tweet.

In the series of tweets, she suggested that it was her book, Rememberings, that made her realize she no longer wanted to be a part of the music industry.

In November, she told her followers on Twitter that she endured a lot of “trauma and abuse” when she was growing up. Due to this, she turned to music and “never learned really how to make a normal life.”
