Google Meet launching video backgrounds

Google Meet is introducing video backgrounds for its calls.

Last year, Google looked to keep up with the likes of Microsoft and Zoom with custom backgrounds for its video conferencing software, and now it's taking things a step further.

Now, Google Meet users can choose a video as well as a picture for their background.

However, currently there are just three Google-made clips available, which shows a party, a classroom and a forest - although more will be released soon.

The feature is being made available to people around the world, and the company is aiming to finish the roll-out by the middle of the month.

The backgrounds will initially be available on the web, but Google wants to introduce them on mobile over the next few months.

To access the video backgrounds, users will need Chrome version M87 or higher.
