'Call of Duty: Warzone' developer Raven is trying to find a "fair" and "reactable" solution to Dead Silence.
The field upgrade - which temporarily silences your footsteps and gives a slight speed boost - has split gamers, particularly given the big advantage is gives to people in Warzone when stealth is a definite benefit.
Some users have noted a lack of downside, and players have suggested the studio could allow an existing perk - such as High Alert - to detect others using Dead Silence.
In update patch notes this week, Raven said: "We are exploring all avenues in terms of changes to provide 'fair' and 'reactable' counterplay options to Dead Silence.
"A decision like this must be made carefully especially considering how it may destabilise other aspects of the game.
"We cannot promise anything at this moment but as we close in on an appropriate solution, we will share more details. Sit tight."
