Epic Games is reportedly working on an option for players to assign specific items to their ideal inventory slots in Fortnite.
Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 7 is off and running, and it’s perhaps the best collective update in a long time. The season’s alien invasion theme has received a mostly positive response from the community. While all of the extraterrestrial features pique player interest, Epic Games has done a fantastic job cleaning up long-standing issues in Fortnite Battle Royale.
The first significant fix allowed players to cancel the shakedown mechanic introduced in Chapter 2 - Season 2. Epic appears committed to improving the in-game experience, based on some recent leaks. These indicate that players may be able to designate inventory spots in a future update.

Reputable Fortnite leaker HYPEX took to Twitter with an exciting prospect that should excite fans worldwide. Epic Games is supposedly working on a mechanic that would grant the ability to assign certain weapons to specific inventory slots.
It’s a feature that the casual and competitive communities would welcome with open arms. Players have had to manually manage their inventory since the release of Fortnite Battle Royale in 2017. This new feature would eliminate that need, making inventory management much more straightforward.
There’s no word or confirmation from Epic’s side yet. But HYPEX mentioned that they have been working on it since Chapter 2 - Season 7’s release. If patch v17.10 is any indication, the developers may introduce the long-awaited preferred inventory slot feature in one of the next few patches.
