ESTNN recaps the first Cash Cup Extra of Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 7.
DreamHack returned to the competitive Fortnite Battle Royale scene after a brief break to conclude Chapter 2 - Season 6. Now that the FNCS All-Star Showdown is in the rear-view, DreamHack’s Cash Cup Extra tournament is back in our lives. The top 132 teams from this past Monday’s Trio Cash Cup earned the right to compete for a share of several thousand dollars.
Cash Cup Extra 4 began with Europe before venturing across the pond to NA East. ESTNN has all of the results from today’s action, so join us as we recap the first Cash Cup Extra of Season 7!
Europe

An unexpected team claimed first after the final matches finished in the European region. With 653 points in total, Merstach, TT9 Malibuca and shiz1k1337 reigned supreme. This trio completed nine games in three hours and compiled 62 eliminations and an average placement of 9.44. None of their games results in anything lower than 20th, making their run to the winner’s circle all the more impressive. Consistency wins in DreamHack formats, and Merstach, Malibuca and shiz1k1337 would not be denied.

The always steady trio of Solary Floki, Clement and GO Decyptos fell six points short of first but still left a mark in the Cash Cup Extra. Their path to victory was quite different from the eventual winners. Floki, Clement and Decyptos played out all ten games, winning three of them and matching first with 62 eliminations. A few less-than-ideal games left them in second, but the results for this trio are encouraging.

After replacing Vadeal on their team, BL Noahreyli and Rezon ay turned to Veno as their third. While it may be too early to tell, these three shined in their first Cash Cup Extra together. Noahreyli, Rezon and Veno led the field with 68 eliminations and secured one Victory Royale. They ended with 646 points. Right behind them was arguably the best team in Fortnite, GUILD Hen, GUILD JannisZ and Chapix, who finished with 635 points.

The region across the pond provided an equally exciting finish to the Cash Cup Extra. As the dust settled, Saf, BBG Khanada and Liquid STRETCH stood above everyone. Mere hours after learning they could not team with Khanada in the FNCS this season, these three made a statement. Saf and company tallied 636 points across eight games. Their effort included 61 eliminations, one Victory Royale and an average placement of 9.25. It was a strong showing and will undoubtedly produce some interesting Twitter exchanges.

The European team of Falcon Andilex, Vitality Snayzy and xsweeze.mces impressed on high ping and unfavorable conditions. In nine matches, the French trio amassed 629 points and finished with the second most eliminations in the tournament. While the NA East vs. Europe debate rages on, Andilex, Snayzy and xsweeze silenced the critics in a significant way. Their back-to-back second-place finishes coming home ultimately won them $1.8K USD.

FNCS All-Star Showdown winner 33 PaMstou joined teammates Athletix wCarey and Fatch in securing third place. They fell just one point behind the Euros on the leaderboard, ultimately finishing with 628 points. TNA Trio Cup winners Elite Gabe, Sprite and 9LIVES Tahi, rounded out the top four with 625 points. The remainder of this leaderboard featured names such as SEN Bugha, FaZe Cented, Clix and much more.
